Cobb Magnet High School Programs


Campbell High School International Baccalaureate Program provides an internationally recognized, challenging curriculum, resulting in broad and deep preparation for university studies. Classroom study in the core areas is extended by critical examination of theories of knowledge, participation in community service, and completion of an original research project. In addition to the high school diploma, students are awarded an IB diploma after successfully completing international exams in the six subject areas.

Kennesaw Mountain High School Academy of Mathematics, Science, and Technology, a national model, features a broad-based, accelerated curriculum. Post-AP opportunities are found in mathematics, physical sciences and life sciences, which include extensive laboratory experiences. Also offered is a full array of engineering technology courses. Students complete a senior research project and field experience with a local professional practice, industry, or institution of higher learning.

North Cobb School for International Studies has as its primary goal to provide an advanced educational experience for students emphasizing the development of global perspectives on politics, culture and science. Additionally, students in the School for International Studies will acquire leadership skills through extracurricular activities, service learning and a culminating senior project and presentation. Emphasis is placed on participation in Advanced Placement courses, international travel, and cultural exchanges.

Pebblebrook High School Center for Excellence in the Performing Arts serves students with exceptional talent in the arts. Its goal is to develop and nurture talented young artists for successful careers in the performing arts through extensive training programs and classes in drama, dance, technical theatre, and vocal music while maintaining high academic achievement. Applicants’ attendance, academic record, behavior, and talent potential are considerations for admittance to the Center.

South Cobb High School Academy of Research and Medical Sciences focuses on opportunities in medical sciences and scientific research. Students will have their courses tailored to infuse both scientific research and medical sciences into the magnet curriculum. The medical science portion of the program utilizes the on-site medical lab/clinic and intern with a health professional of their choosing. The research portion of the magnet program culminates in a research project and internship with a local business or institution of higher education.

Wheeler High School Center for Advanced Studies in Science, Mathematics, and Technology has primary areas of emphasis in engineering and medical biotechnology. Students culminate their studies with a senior internship and research experience with universities, local practices, and industry partners.

8TH Grade Magnet School Presentation

A representative for the Cobb High School Magnet Programs will be speaking to 8th graders Wednesday, August 21st at 12:45 in the Awtrey Theater.  The purpose of the assembly is to introduce students to the programs and provide a general overview of what makes each program unique.  More detailed information about specific programs will be available at their respective open house meetings.  Parents are welcome to attend, but the same information can be found by clicking on the link below.
